Cai Be is a rich tiny village located at the Mekong River’s confluence, with many fruit trees all year. It is a terrific place to immerse yourself in rustic Mekong life by riding around the small settlement on an islet or rowing a wooden sampan down a small canal surrounded by fresh water mangrove.

Itinerary

8:30AM: Depart from your accommodation in an air-conditioned automobile towards My Tho city. Boarding a speedboat at a port in My Tho and traveling down the Mekong River. Here, you may look out over floating houses where fish are farmed beneath the house (viewing from the motorboat).

Continuing on the river until reaching Con Thoi Son (Unicorn Island), then taking a horse cart to a performance site where Vietnamese traditional music (Dan ca tai tu) – A folk art form from Southern Vietnam designated by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – can be heard and seasonal tropical fruit can be tasted (included).

The Mekong House may be seen here. After a brief walk, it’s time for lunch. After lunch, board the motorboat and proceed to a class to learn how to make coconut candy. Candies are available for sampling.

03:00PM: Returning to the bus and returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
